UMass beat Lowell 1-0 to win their first ever Hockey East Championship last night. I’m not a hockey guy per se, but I used to love going to the games when I was in school and they had just restarted the program. If you lived through those years, and enjoyed the Toot years, and then Micheletto … existed, and have been bringing your kids to see Carvel rebuild it, this was especially sweet.
It was heartbreaking to watch it from home while it was played in an empty Mullins, but I will absolutely be there for the banner hanging next year.
They are also, uh, not done winning banners this year. The selection show is tonight – if they end up in Bridgeport, I’m going to have to find a way in!
