Gameday: UMass v. Villanova – WNIT 1st Round

Savage 7 are at it again!

Despite losing 5 players, who actually played, 2 starters from the last 2 years, UMass Women’s Basketball is firing in all cylinders. Fresh off a run to the a10 finals, again, with 7 players one of whom was in a high school social studies class like two months ago, the Minutewomen open up WNIT play tonight against Villanova. The game is at 8pm on FloHoops (?), but #UMassTwitter will be hitting mute and listening to @nathanpstrauss on the call on twitch.

Villanova is led by 6’1” Sophomore Forward Maddie Siegrist who’s is averaging a double double – which actually sounds familiar. I’m looking forward to the matchup with Sam Breen, and to see who Coach Verdi puts on Siegrist defensively to keep Breen fresh when they play man.

This is the Minutewomen’s first trip to the postseason since 1998. 👀
